*Faster mutating markers are shown in red. DYS 19 is also known as DYS 394.
**Number of matches in FTDNA's database of about 34,000 12-marker results and over 18,000 25-marker results.
aHg = Haplogroup designation. Please see "http://www.brian-hamman.com/ResultsForNicholsSurnameProject.htm" for links and further details about haplogroups and haplotypes. Here is some info on haplogroup R1a modal haplotype and more about R1a can be found here. Fehlberg kit #28117 shown above is an identical 12/12 match with the Y-DNA signature of Somerled, the famous Scottish Highland Warrior, who surprisingly turned out to be of Norse Viking paternal descent. ***Caution: our Fehlberg line only matches the Somerled signature on 7 of the next 13 markers, so overall, now only 19/25, indicating very distant common ancestry, perhaps as much as 2000 years ago or so. For info on other Y-chromosome haplogroups see www.worldfamilies.net
