Possible Ancestors:  There is good circumstantial evidence that the John Nichols who died in Fairfield, CT, by 9 Jun 1655 was a brother of the Isaac and Caleb Nichols who lived in Stratford, CT.   However, participant #35967 does not match patrilineal descendants of Isaac and Caleb Nichols in a Y-DNA test!  The Y-DNA results therefore prove that participant #35967 is not related to the John Nichols who died in 1655 of Fairfield.  Since Mercy Holbridge was born in 1650 of New Haven, CT, it is possible that her 1^st husband (a Nichols with unknown first name) was also from that area and moved to Fairfield by the late 1600s.  **See below for more details about “Mr. Nichols” and his wife Mercy Holbridge.
