Hamman, b. ~1835, Germany, d. 12-Aug-1899, Nassagaweya, Halton County, Ontario, Canada.  He married Sophia Parps in around 1879 or 1880, most likely in Hamilton, Canada, where they were found in the 1881 Census with 1 yr old son John Wesley Hamman.  Sophia was born in late Nov 1856, Germany; after John Hamman died, she re-married, to John Patterson, in Nassagaweya, on 27-Jun-1906; Sophia’s parents were Henry Parps and Sophia Garnet who came to America from Germany in around 1858; Sophia died in Nassagaweya on 4-Jun-1952 at 95 or 96 yrs old. John Hamman (the immigrant) was a brickmaker by profession and may have Anglicized his name to Hammond in the 1890s.  Children:  1) John Wesley Hamman, b. abt 1880, Hamilton, Canada; married Annie Isabella Buck on 25 May 1906, in Wentworth, Wentworth Co., Ontario—they had at least two daughters, one of which died in infancy, plus a son named Charles Wesley Hammon born 18-Oct-1908; John died in late August of 1968, in Milton, Ontario; 2) Annie Hamman, b. 1882, Ontario; 3) William Henry Hamman, b. 3-May-1883, Ontario; he moved to Michigan by 1907 and married a lady named Margaret of Irish descent; in Chicago, Illinois by 1917; he died on 4 August, 1964, in Wauwatosa, Milwaukee Co., Wisconsin; 4) Edward Charles Hamman, b. 3-Feb-1885, Wentworth Co., Ontario; he died on 24-May-1915 at the Battle of Festubert, France, in WW1;  5) Nettie Sophia Hamman, b. 14-May-1887, Halton, Ontario; 6) Frederick Joseph Hamman, b. 19-May-1889, Nassagaweya, Ontario; married Nellie Helen Miles on 19-Nov-1913, in Nassagaweya, Halton Co., Ontario; Fred died in May of 1947, in Toronto; 7) Nellie Maud Hamman/Hammond, b. 19-Nov-1890, Nassagaweya, Ontario; 8) Margaret Elizabeth Hamman/Hammond, b. 1-Aug-1892, Nassagaweya, Ontario; married a Polane; 9) Percy Philip Hamman/Hammond, b. 19-Jun-1885, Campbellville, Ontario; fought in WW1; moved to Michigan in 1922, married a lady named Muriel (b. 1899, MI) before 1930; died April 1981, Fairhope, Baldwin, Alabama
