Nichols Patrilineage for Thomas “Earl” Nichols

1)  Britton Nichols, b. ~1780, maybe South Carolina; possibly married a Coffield?; in Kershaw Co., SC, in the 1810 and 1820 Census; in Henry Co., Alabama, in the 1830 Census, where he died in 1837.

2)  Samuel Nichols, b. 1804, South Carolina; m. Mary Matherson or Mathson (b. 1797, South Carolina); Samuel died 5-Mar-1865, Walton Co., Florida.  Samuel’s brother might possibly be the John Nichols who patented land in Limestone Co., Alabama, in 1818.

3)  Coffel Nichols, b. 1830, Henry Co., Alabama; d. 1868, Walton County, Florida; m. Sarah Ann Ward..they were in 1850 Census for Santa Rosa Co., Florida, right next door to his parents (Samuel says he was born in SC) and his mother’s parents (John Matherson born in 1773 of North Carolina).
